Idea from me:
Whether or not creativity is your passion or just a pastime, we inherently act as our own bosses in these endeavors. As I manage myself, I notice that I am very strict on specific aspects and very lenient on others - but it wasn’t until recently that I questioned this. In what ways are you too strict on yourself? In what ways are you too lenient? I think answering these questions can help us manage our creativity better - to not only grow as artists, but also in finding the most enjoyment in the creative process.
Quote from another:
Actress Richa Chadha on listening to the “safest” recommendations:
“I have been blessed with ‘well-wishers’ and ‘advisors’ throughout my career. They teach me what not to do. People make recommendations based on what they think is safest for you, or based on their understanding of who you are and what you ought to be. They set invisible limits on how much you can achieve in your life and pass those limitations on to you inadvertently.”
Prompt for you:
What kind of manager are you being to yourself in your creative endeavor(s)? Answer these two questions below:
In what ways am I too strict on myself?
In what ways am I too lenient on myself?
So timely as I find myself with more energy 🙏but less motivation this month. Rest is self love when you push too hard. Discipline is self love when you don’t push enough. Good stuff, Joe!
